2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign, Release Date, Price

The upcoming 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe test model is spotted and images have appeared online. Like many of its popular vehicle models, the South Korean carmaker Hyundai is also giving the popular Santa Fe SUV a makeover for 2018.

This is one of the top selling models of the company and Hyundai wants to cope up with growing competition from rivals like Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, Ford Edge, Toyota Highlander and Kia Sorento.

According to some rumors, the new 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe will be eight-seat SUV. So far this was a seven-seat SUV. With this major redesign, this will be the fourth generation of this Hyundai mid-size SUV.

2018 Hyundai Santa Fe – Design and Trims

The grille shape on the new model remains hexagonal but it is a little different compared to the 2017 model. Same is true about the lamps and roofline. Overall, the front fascia resembles the new Hyundai Kona. As you can see from the spy photos, the new Hyundai Santa Fe will get a new grill. We can see that this grill is similar to the one on the new Sonata.

On the rear end, it has heavy camouflage, this indicates that we can expect something that we didn’t see so far on the Hyundai models.

You get LED daytime running lights and the side profile also looks a bit changed. The 2018 model may have four trims like the predecessor- SE, Limited, SE Ultimate and Limited Ultimate. The five-seater Sport version will also be available. Also, long wheelbase Grand Santa Fe will be available in some markets.

Even the cabin of 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is inspired by new Kona SUV and the popular Ioniq hybrid to an extent. The cabin is quite spacious and material quality is very good for this segment.

Powertrain and Transmission

The powertrain in 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is solid. However, the plug-in hybrid engine may be new for 2018, as per industry buzz.

The three-row model gets a new Lambda II V6 3.3L engine which makes 290 hp. Furthermore, this engine gets six-speed automatic transmission gearbox as standard. FWD is standard and you can opt for AWD on all engines.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine which makes 184 hp. This engine comes paired with 6-speed automatic transmission.

On some markets 2018 Santa Fe is offered with strong 2.2-liter CRDi turbo-diesel engine. This powerful diesel engine has 197 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai claims that new Santa Fe has a fuel economy of 30 mpg in the combined driving.

Summing it up

The newest 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is a stylish SUV that comes loaded with latest amenities and plenty of technology. Beside complete redesign, if it gets hybrid powertrain, that will be the biggest change compared to 2017 version. The revamped design will aid in enhancing its sales. If Hyundai keeps the pricing right, the 2018 Santa Fe will trounce the category rivals.
