Jeep is a name to reckon with in off-road centric SUV segment but it seems FCA’s iconic sub-brand is ready to step into another territory with the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup. After a gap of more than 2 decades, FCA is getting ready to roll out a Jeep-branded pickup.
This is definitely going to make fans excited- given the fact the Comanche, based on XJ Cherokee has manufactured 25 years ago. In between FCA has shown concept pickups a number of times but none of those models got into production. Finally, the Jeep Wrangler-based pickup is getting readied for commercial production.
2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup – Rugged and Macho Styling
The upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler pickup has rugged and macho exterior styling much like the SUV. Earlier images of camouflaged test vehicle appeared online. Of late, the test model has been spotted on roads minus the covers- which have stepped up the excitement among fans. The model will be made in four-door crew-cab but FCA may also make two-door, single-cab units. It is not known if the Jeep pickup will be sold in few trims or not. The front side will have famous vertical seven-slat grille and horizontal LED daytime running lights. The model may get a hardtop but the soft top may also be on offer.
Not much is known about the cabin of this model, but it will be designed with usability in mind. It may have seating options for 4 to 5 adults. FCA is likely to use some small item storage bins in the cabin.
It is expected that FCA will use tip notch safety features in the upcoming Jeep Wrangler-based pickup and it will also get a fair amount of amenities that the Jeep SUVs get. So, safety features like oodles of airbags, traction control, rear vision camera and TPMS are likely to be included.
The pickup may be laden with customizable upholstery. It will be equipped with new UConnect infotainment setup. Facilities like navigation, Bluetooth, and Smartphone integration are likely to be there.
Engine will have automatic start-stop technology
The upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler pickup will have solid powertrain inside. Most likely it will be laden with a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V-6 engine- the same used in Wrangler. The engine may have the automatic start-stop technology.
However, FCA may also use newer and more powerful engines. It is quite obvious the truck will be equipped with off-road ready chassis and suspension. However, nothing is known about either payload or maximum towing capacity.
Affordability and Availability of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup
Exact release date of the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler pickup is not known. But it is expected to be unveiled sometimes in 2018. FCA has not declared its pricing but it is expected to be competitively priced.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler pickup has already generated enough buzz. The model is expected to be a versatile performer with off road tackling capabilities. From the spy shots, it appears to be a winning contender. However, its success will depend on final pricing and choice of powertrain.
