The Toyota’s sub luxury brand which has made a place for itself in global luxury car segment is all set to unveil the 2018 Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h. The LS series denoting luxury sedans, launched by the company in 1990 have proved to be top sellers. The prototype of 2018 Lexus LS 500, showcased at the recently held Detroit Auto Show managed to generate enough buzz and responses were mostly positive.
From its coupe like exterior to roomy interior, the new powertrain and optional technological upgrades all received praise. The 2018 Lexus LS 500 will be sold in 90 different markets.
2018 Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h – Design and Features
The 2018 Lexus LS 500 is the fifth generation model in this lineup. The new model gets a more aggressive exterior styling. This model gets the slightly bigger body and lower roofline. The soft looking exterior stands out in the crowd where most rivals sports exterior with sharp creases. The unique spindle grille design of the LS 500 attracts attention.
The cabin is neatly designed and oozes a sense of sophisticated styling and aesthetics at every inch. Its material quality is on par with British and German rivals. From dashboard surface to stitching in the seats, everything is immaculate. However, the seats are large and comfortable in both rows.

The car will also have some autonomous technologies though not on the scale of new Mercedes E-Class or Tesla.

The 2018 Lexus LS 500 does not compromise on the performance front. The sedan gets a twin-turbo V6 engine making 415 horsepower. This is clubbed with a 10-speed automatic torque-converter transmission gearbox. The Lexus also says the power train is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in only 4.5 seconds- which is fast. The hybrid variant is Lexus LS 500h.
The LS 500h is based on Lexus Global Architecture platform on which its cousin LC coupe is also developed. It gets a 3.5-liter V-6 engine along with 2 electric motors. The overall output of this setup is 354 HP. The hybrid setup has the lithium-ion battery pack. The model boasts of Multi Stage Hybrid System of Lexus. It takes 5.4 seconds to reach 60 mph from zero.
2018 Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h – Expected Launch and Price
The pricing for the 2018 Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h is yet to be announced. The release date for both the models could be in late 2017. The existing model costs $72,000 and with several updates, the new one may cost near $80,000.
The 2018 Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h are stunning luxury sedans with advanced technology and amenities. The exterior styling may not please all but the cabin is lavishly decorated. The hybrid version gets a powerful engine and the regular version also offers excellent ride quality. With right pricing, it can cope up with rising competition in its segment.
