2019 Acura RDX Spotted Testing

The newest 2019 Acura RDX has been spotted testing in recent times and spy shots have been posted on the web too. Honda’s luxury-focused sub-brand Acura has been doing well of late and it is trying to make its presence felt in luxury car segment- globally. The Acura RDX is the first compact SUV/crossover sold by the company. After its launch 10 years back, the RDX has been given a number of revamps.

The RDX is one of the affordable luxury crossovers beyond doubt but its appeal was affected by its somewhat dull design and lack of finesse in the cabin. The company is set to change all that and the new RDX is getting a moderate makeover. The car will fight it out with rivals like BMW X5 and Audi Q5.

The Acura RDX does not exactly have trims unlike most of the rivals. Instead, the company offers packages like Technology, Advance and AcuraWatch Plus. The upholstery customization choices may be more in number for 2019.

2019 Acura RDX – Expect Hybrid Variant and Regular Engine

It is not clear what powertrain will be used in the upcoming 2019 Acura RDX. However, given the fact most carmakers are switching to green and solar energy options, the RDX may get a hybrid powertrain. There will be regular fuel variants on offer too.

The existing 3.5-liter V-6 unit may be retained but it could get tweaked for better output. The existing model has an output of 279 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. Also, we expect a turbocharged engine that will offer for 2019.

The new 2019 Acura RDX may get AWD by default. But that has not been confirmed off. The current model of Acura comes with an EPA city/highway fuel economy of 20/28 mpg for the (FWD) and 19/27 mpg for the (AWD). We expect better numbers in the upcoming model.

2019 Acura RDX – Price and Availability

The exact pricing of 2019 Acura RDX is not known but the pricing will be like the existing model- more or less. A base price of around $36.000 is likely and top trim price may be near $45.000. Whit this prices consider that if you want to upgrade to the all-wheel-drive system, you must pay extra 1500. Also, there is AcuraWatch package that cost around $1300. It will be still reasonable compared to segment rivals. The release date could be in sometime in late 2018.

Conclusion, Opponents and Sale Statistic

The upcoming version of 2019 Acura RDX is likely to get styling and technological boost to stay in the race. The new styling will help it entice more target buyers. The powertrain choice may be expanded, as it looks like. It remains to be seen if the amenities also go up.

The 2019 Acura RDX is likely to be priced reasonably since the competition like Infinity QX30, Lincoln MKC and BMW X5 is fierce in this segment. It comes across as a good alternative luxury compact crossover for those buyers who do not want to bleed their wallets heavily.
