Our paparazzi have spotted the 2019 Audi A6 undergoing some winter tests, giving us a hint at a possible launch sometime next year. Besides, we’ve had the first batch of spy shots which reveal the A6 with what seems to be the production lights.
The prototype appears to be less camouflaged than ever before, and its headlights and taillights mirror the A7 Sportback despite earlier publication that the two vehicles won’t be identical.
2019 Audi A6 – More Aggressive Styling
The 2019 Audi A6 features a more aggressive styling than the outbound A6. It has an extended radiator grille and narrower headlights than before, although its side profile is relatively unchanged. At the rear, the new midsize sedan gets a LED stripe that links the taillights, just like what we see on the A7 and A8 models.
The sedan’s headlights borrow a lot of design inspirations from the A8. These headlights are not only slimmer but sport an angular design. The slimmer headlights and a revamped grille combine to give the inbound Audi A6 a sportier and protracted stance than its precursor. A more muscular engine hood alongside the splitter-like component beneath the bumper wrap up the new Audi A6 midsize sedan.
The upcoming A6 is likely to present a more spacious interior as it underpins the MLB Evo platform for better packaging. This platform is also influential as far as a healthy weight loss is concerned. Although our paparazzi didn’t find a chance to snap the interior shots, we are confident that the dashboard mimics the A8. Audi’s air vent strip design gives its cabin a classy look that is free of clutter.
The elongated strip, which hides the A/C vents, is situated atop the lustrous center console that accommodates a sizeable infotainment display. The A6 will not convey the second screen, unlike the A8 which has a second screen seated at the center console. The new infotainment system provides all the essential driving software, such as the smartphone integration, navigation, and a semi-autonomous function used for parking and low-speed driving.
2019 Audi A6 – Drivetrain and Transmission
The newest A6 will see a significant hike in output as Audi has revamped the engines recently. The incumbent model derives its power from a potent 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 252-hp and 273-lb.ft of torque.
These enhancements, alongside an improved automatic gearbox, enable the midsize sedan to sprint from 0-60 mph in less than 4.2 seconds. Its speed tops out at 155 miles per hour.
The inbound vehicle uses the new S Tronic automatic transmission and comes standard with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. All in all, the 2019 Audi A6 is a lot more responsive and agile compared to the outbound model. The reason is that it sports new electronics and software tweaks that make it a great buy.
2019 Audi A6 – Pricing and Release Date
The new A6 is a little more expensive than the outbound version. The A6 will have a price increase from the current $50,000 to almost $52,000. On the other hand, the S6 model is like to sell at $73,000 excluding options. The A6 is due to arrive at the United States dealerships in mid-2018 as a 2019 model.
