The X2 crossover is BMW’s sixth crossover and it is on the markets since 2011. This small SUV hit the roads in 2015 and was redesigned a year after that. Not long after that, the concept car is presented at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, and many could see BMW’s strong intentions to extend the X lineup. Now, the 2019 BMW X2 is ready to hit the markets.
The upcoming 2019 BMW X2 model shares a lot of things with the second-generation X1, they ride on the same platform and are using the same drivetrain. BMW X2 made a North American debut at the Detroit Auto Show in 2018 and now is almost ready to hit the dealerships.
2019 BMW X2 headlamps are shared with the X1 model
Don’t get confused, X2 model shares almost nothing with models like X4 or X6. When first announced, many expected that the X2 will come as a coupe version of the X1. That didn’t happen, as X2 looks sportier and it stands on its own in the lineup. The headlamps, bumper and front grille are unique like in the X1 model. The grille is wider, and thanks to that, the 2019 BMW X2 looks more distinctive and broader.
The side vents down below are the same, but the center vent is now rectangular and not trapezoidal like before. While the profile looks the same, there are slight changes. Far fewer creases on the doors and more cladding above the side skirts are something worth mentioning. Moreover, a new roofline new and window configuration as well.
At the back, the taillights are the same size like on other X models, but they look sleeker. Thanks to lower creases, the tailgate is more integrated into the body. Full LED headlamps are standard, and higher models are offering 20-inch wheels as an option. This model will be available with eleven colors Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Jet Black, Glacier, Silver Metallic, Mineral Grey Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Dark Olive Metallic, Mediterranean Blue Metallic, Galvanic Gold Metallic and Sunset Orange Metallic exterior colors.
2019 BMW X2 Interior
The interior layout of the 2019 BMW X2 is basically the same as on the X1 model. Actually, the layout is standard BMW’s. Contrast stitching on the center console, dashboard, and even the seats, is now standard and it boosts the interior a bit more. The base model features fabric upholstery, higher trims are available with fabric and Alcantara materials. The leather is also there only in the range-topping M Sport package. If you opt for this option, the choice is down to Dakota leather and Micro Hexagon fabric.
The infotainment system features a new 6.5-inch touchscreen with navigation. The full-color Head-Up Display is optional, and it will provide you all of the important information. This model can easily accumulate five passengers. The interior will be offered with SensaTec Oyster/Black Leatherette and SensaTec Dakota Black Leatherette.
As for the safety, the upcoming model 2019 BMW X2 is equipped with many features. 2019 BMW X2 Engine and Acceleration
Like mentioned above, the 2019 BMW X2 shares drivetrain with the X1 model. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is under the hood and it produces 195 HP and 300 pound-feet of torque. The X2 can hit 0 to 62 MPH in 7.7 seconds. It is speculated that more engine options will become available later in 2018, including the gasoline sDrive20i and xDrive18d. The sDrive18d will use 2.0-liter fou engine that delivers148 horses and 243 pound-feet. It comes with fuel tank capacity 16.1 gallons.
The gas model will use a 2.0-liter engine with 190 HP. The hybrid variant is also on the table, but it is too early for that.
However, in the U.S we will see two more engines sDrive28i and xDrive28i. Both engines will a twin-turbo 2.0-liter four engine that generates 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models are coming with the eight-speed automatic transmission. It will take from 0 to 60 MPH to get in just 6.3 seconds. This is also the best and the fastest version of the X2.
2019 BMW X2 Towing Capacity and Cargo Space
There is no info for now about towing capacity. However, with the features like Hill Descent Control, Driving Experience Control switch, Dynamic Damper Control, the car will have the great towing capacity. Trunk space is 16.6 cubic feet, and that is more space than on Audi Q2. With the rear seats folded flat, the room is increased at 35.3 cubic feet.
2019 BMW X2 Price and Release Date
The all-new 2019 BMW X2 starts at $31,000. We are still waiting for the BMW to announce available options for the U.S. market, but X2 should hit the dealerships in the spring of 2019. The main opponents that will rival new 2019 BMW X2 are Mercedes-Benz GLA, Nissan Juke, Audi Q2 and Volvo XC40.
