The spy shots of 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 test vehicles have appeared on the web and changes are there in exterior and cabin- as is evident from those images.
Now that Ford has taken wraps off the new version of its F-150 truck lineup and Ram 1500 is also getting revamped, can GM sit idle and watch the rivals steal the show? That explain why the US car giant is giving the Chevy Silverado 1500 lineup a makeover for 2019.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – Boxy Build
While the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 retains the boxy build of the present version, changes are there in exterior styling. The front bumper design and hood look more aggressive and the model also gets new LED-accented headlights. It will come in three cab setups- regular, double and crew cab. There will be three-bed choices too.
The truck will be released in 4 trims- WT, LS, LT, LTZ and High Country. A sporty Z71 package will be available for the LT and LTZ trims. The exhaust pipes may be at side or rear, as hinted by the spy shots. The 2019 version gets two new exterior hues- Cajun Red Tintcoat and Havana Metallic. The models all get LED-accented daytime running lights too.
It seems that GM will use a mix of high-strength steel and aluminum in the body to enhance durability while reducing overall vehicle weight.
The interior shots of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 have also been made available. The layout is similar to that of the existing model but now it gets a bigger infotainment display in the center stack.
You get several USB ports in the cabin, along with 110V AC power, and a 12V DC outlet. GM is likely to deploy sound insulating elements like Triple-seal inlaid doors and acoustic glass to keep the cabin quiet. As always, the top High Country trim will get the best upholstery along with enough customization options.
Technologies and Amenities
The technologies and amenities will be spruced up in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, compared to the existing model. However, most of the technology and safety features will be included as standard in top trim.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim will get GM’s revamped MyLink infotainment system with full support for Smartphone, Bluetooth, and USB. Available tech features include wireless charging and 4G LTE hotspot hub. All trims get a 6-speaker audio system while top trim gets special Bose sound system.
The 4G LTE hotspots support seven devices at the same time. You can also download the new myChevrolet Mobile App on your Smartphone and use it control some vehicle features remotely.
The trims get enough safety features including a set of airbags, traction control, TPMS, Rear Vision Camera and GM’s new Teen Driver. The Enhanced Driver Alert Package comprises of advanced safety features like Forwarding Collision Alert, Rear Park Assist, and Forward Automatic Braking at low speeds, Lane Keep Assist.
Details of the powering to be used in the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are yet to be declared by GM. However, industry experts assume the truck will be powered by the tried and tested EcoTec-branded V8 and V6 engines. A Turbo diesel engine may also be on the cards, though GM has not said anything on it so far.
Whatever engine is ultimately used in the upcoming Chevy Silverado 1500, it is likely to be mated with the company’s new 10-speed automatic transmission setup- which has been developed in alliance with Ford. The towing capacity and payload may not be changed.
Pricing and Availability
The GM has not revealed pricing of 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. However, the new model should not be priced too high compared to the existing one. The base trim price should be around $30, 000 while top trim may be priced close to $45, 000. It will be unveiled sometimes in mid-2018.
Summing it up
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a nice mid level pickup truck that is getting a good makeover to take on the rivals from stables of the Ford, Nissan, and RAM. The exterior changes are nice and the cabin is also sleek. If the GM can keep pricing right the truck will hit the bull’s eye, beyond doubt.
