The Ford Escape is one of the most popular models in the compact-SUV segment for sure, next to the rivals such as Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4. The upcoming 2019 Ford Escape comes with great tech and safety amenities and it offers three engine options. It is a versatile SUV and the lineup is slightly enlarged.

The outgoing model came with two new colors that are available in the new model as well. It is a Cinnamon Glaze and Blue Metalic. There is a Sport Appearance Package available and it adds more blackout-trim accents, 19-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels, halogen lights and the whole vibe is edgier.

The approaching 2019 Ford Escape is relying on last year’s revamp. Every surface feels premium, and there is no need for changing that. This 2-row/5-passenger SUV, however, changed the layout a little bit. Amenities like shift leveler and electronic parking brake are repositioned and the driver can now access climate controls and the center-stack with no problems at all.

The steering wheel is more user-friendly, and the armrest is larger than before. The cargo area is rated at solid 34.0 cubic feet, but with rear seats folded, that area is increased to a 68.0 cubic feet. Refreshed Escape offers a new Sync 3 infotainment system. This system, thanks to latest updates is easier to use and is more responsive as a result. It comes with an 8-inch screen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Trims Features

The 2019 Ford Escape will be available in four trims: S, SE, SEL and Titanium. The current one model is using the same trims. However, the base one S trim will be equipped with many features like rearview camera, cruise control system, automatic headlights and adjustable driver’s seat in 6 way. However, for the infotainment in this trim, this SUV will get a 4.2-inch screen with Ford’s Sync system, powerful 6-speaker audio system, voice recognition, AM/FM/CD and plenty of USB inputs and Bluetooth connectivity.

The next one trim SE is much better eqquiped. This trim will offer mighty EcoBoost turbocharged engine with FWD as standard, dual-zone climate control, Sync 3 with CarPlay, driver’s seat with 10-way-configuration and also heated seats.

However, the SEL trim will get all amenities that S and SE have. Plus will add leather seats, bigger 8-inch touchscreen and advanced Sync Connect system. With this system, owners will be able to lock, unlock this SUV from a phone.

The highlights of the company`s offer are the Top-line Titanium trim. This trim will add the most powerful turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 245 HP. Also, features like a power passenger seat, push-button start, heated steering wheel, hands-free tailgate are included. For the infotainment, this trim will get better and bigger navigation and 10-speaker Sony premium audio with HD Radio.

This model is not well rated in a crash test. It gains three stars of five. The features that will be there for safety are advanceTrac w/roll stability control, side airbags, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with a forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, rearview camera and child safety rear door locks.

The 2019 Ford Escape comes with three available drivetrain options. However, for 2019 model, each engine is tied to a specific trim level. All of the engines are 6-speed automatic and are four-cylinder. Base Ford Escape is using a 2.5-liter with front-wheel drive and it is capable of producing 168 HP. Escape SE and new SEL models will benefit from a 1.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost unit. This one will burst up to 179 HP.

This engine also comes with a front-wheel drive setup, but all-wheel drive is optional. Furthermore, this drivetrain is smaller than the 2.5-liter engine but comes with more horsepower thanks to the forced induction of turbocharging.

Towing Capacity and Fuel Economy

The exclusive 2019 Ford Escape Titanium model will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that returns 245 HP and its tow rating is 3.500 pounds. The model of engine that is available with base trim S is very fuel efficient, it gives 21/29 mpg with the front-wheel-drive system. However, the 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 is the next one with 23/30 mpg for the FWD and 22/28 mpg for the AWD. And the last one 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 will give 21/28 mpg FWD and with all-wheel drive system 20/27 mpg.

2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In Hybrid model

The company is also working on the new model 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In Hybrid that is caught testing on the road these days. From the image that we have this model looks to be longer and wider than the current one or the base model.

This model comes with the plug-in port that is located on the rear side of the vehicle. However, from some rumors, this model will get a petrol engine and mighty 10 kW battery pack. With this battery, the new 2019 Ford Escape Energi Plug-In Hybrid will be able to go all electric 30 miles. Unfortunately, we dont have info about engines and outputs at this moment.

2019 Ford Escape Price and Release Date

The all-new 2019 Ford Escape will cost around $25,000. For $33,000 you can buy premium Titanium model. However, at this moment we dont have official info how much will Hybrid model cost. For some experts, the model will be in the range from $33,000 to $35,000. The prices are in line with other rivals, and the new Escape will become available around September this year or at first quartal of 2019.
