One of the world’s most famous pickup trucks is for sure a Ford F-150. When it comes to supremacy in this segment, everything comes down to a “big three” fight between Ford, Ram, and Chevy. Top-selling models in the U.S. are provided by those three companies. The upcoming 2019 Ford F-150 will arrive with an advanced exterior design and that includes even more aluminum work.
A 10-speed transmission is available and tech features inside the cabin are modern and up to date. F-150 model also offers a wide range of engine options, from a new V6 to a traditional V8. On top of that, turbodiesel powertrain is coming and will take place between mentioned engines and three EcoBoost units. This pickup truck leads the class in towing and you can equip your F-150 from base model to a luxurious Limited trim.
2019 Ford F-150 Exterior is slightly restyled
The exterior of a new 2019 Ford F-150 continues to grow in terms of quality. The upcoming model will benefit from even more aluminum materials and the exterior is slightly better in order to match a Super Duty lineup. A wide range of trim levels is bringing literally everything, from new front grilles to updated headlights and wheel designs. The dimension of this pickup truck is large and it comes with a wheelbase of 145.0 inches. However, this model is also little longer than the current one that measures 231.9 inches.
Besides that, the new look is boosted thanks to a fresh tailgate that comes with a pull-out step. This step helps with getting in and out of the bed. Pop-Out steps are also offered, on the side of a truck. Overall, the exterior is slightly restyled, and we will see no major changes to the upcoming model.
2019 Ford F-150 Interior gets a modern features
The interior of the 2019 Ford F-150 looks both attractive and rugged at the same time. The cabin is practical and easy to use. Moreover, Ford decides to add more new interior colors and plenty of modern features such as 4G LTE Wi-Fi. Safety is on high-level thanks to the adaptive cruise control and active park assist that are standard now.
Three power outlets are added and a new feature in Sync3 infotainment system allows you to read text messages while driving. SuperCrew Cab models are very roomy and thanks to the flat floor, even middle rear seats are both spacious and comfortable. There is enough space for all and passenger’s volume is 136 cu ft.
2019 Ford F-150 offers six engine options
The all-new 2019 Ford F-150 is available with five engine options that also power the current one model and one new. The base engine is a 3.3-liter V6 that returns 290 HP and 265 lb-ft of torque. It uses a 6-speed automatic transmission. The next one is 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. However, the second one is also a twin-turbocharged V6 but it consists of 3.5-liter and it makes 375 HP.
The 5.0-liter V8 engine gains more torque and more ponies. This engine will produce 395 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque. If you want more power and even better performance, you’ll have to opt for a Ford-F150 Raptor model that comes with 3,5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 that adds 450 horses and over a 500 lb-ft of twist. On top of that, a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel is coming, but official numbers are not released yet.
Acceleration of the new model is also little improved. The numbers that we got from the test is 5.9 sec from zero to 60 mph and to the 100mph this pickup truck is able to go in 14.9 sec. Top speed is like in the current one model 107 mph.
Towing Capacity and Fuel Economy
The 2019 Ford F-150 is a towing class leader, and if you opt for a towing package, you can tow over 13,200 pounds. Furthermore, the model with the 3,3-liter engine comes with EPA city/highway fuel economy of 19/25 mpg for the 2WD and 18/23 mpg for the 4WD system. The next one 2,7 liter comes with a little better fuel economy with two-wheel drive 20/26 mpg and with four-wheel drive it gives 19/24 mpg. However, the model with 3,5 liters gives 18/25 mpg (2WD) and 17/23 mpg (4WD).
The powerful engine 5.0 liter V8 is capable to give in city/high 17/23 mpg (2WD) and 16/22 mpg (4WD), while the last one Raptor model the EPA is 15/18 mpg.
2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid model
In the model 2019 Ford F-150, the hybrid engine is not offered. However, from the company officials, the demand for the hybrid engines is growing and the company said that will release few plug-in hybrid variants in the next few years, including the F-150.
From some speculations, the F-150 will get the hybrid engine in 2020. This engine will get 50% more MPG than the base one version. Also, it will get battery capacity over 15 kWh. However, at this moment there are no official numbers about the engine that will power F-150 hybrid model.
2019 Ford F-150 Price and Release Date
The company`s latest pickup truck 2019 Ford F-150 will cost slightly under $30,000. As we mentioned, a range of trim levels is wide and Limited model will cost around $66,000. The 2019 Ford F-150 will arrive later this year.
