The approaching 2019 Genesis GV80 is a company’s first SUV that was introduced as a concept back in 2017. Before that, in early 2000s Hyundai developed the first-generation named Genesis sedan. However, Genesis becomes a standalone brand in November 2015, and since then, the company released plenty of models.
The G90 is the flagship of the South Korean carmaker, and later we saw a smaller G80 model. Today, we are waiting for 2019 Genesis GV80 to be released next year. On the other hand, GV80 may be Genesis’ first SUV model but it won’t be the last for sure. After three sedans, the Korean company is ready to launch at least two crossovers.
2019 Genesis GV80 has the Futuristic Look
The exterior won’t stray too much from the concept, but some parts are expected to be left outside. Twin-Stripe headlamps are a good example what you can forget about. Genesis will for sure go with the more familiar LED units just like on sedan models. The front grille could remain the same as on the concept, but there is a big question mark about huge chrome slab.
On the other hand, Genesis will probably offer two versions of 2019 GV80. A standard SUV model with thin slats and a Sport model with more aerodynamics and honeycomb mash. Even the side of GV80 will look less aggressive and more conventional, with more standard mirrors, roof rack, wheels and door handles. Don’t get confused here, the forthcoming GV80 will still hold the premium look that can easily match rivals such as BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
2019 Genesis GV80 Interior like no other
The 2019 Genesis GV80 is a mystery when it comes to interior. We can assume that plenty of styling cues will be taken from Genesis’ sedans. So, a four-door SUV with both modern and stylish interior is what we expect. The dashboard should feature some wood trims and the big screen in the center of the dash will boost premium feel even more.
Just like G80 sedan, the 2019 Genesis GV80 will feature similar aluminum and chrome trims, a digital instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel. The seats are comfortable but the seating position is higher for the better visibility. The center console is wider and taller as this is an SUV we are talking about, not a sedan. For the same reason, the legroom and headroom are generous, especially in the rear section.
2019 Genesis GV80 Engine and Output
As any other automaker, Genesis is also looking to share as much as possible between the company’s models, and the same stands for engines. Korean automaker employs a couple of V6 and V8 drivetrains, so the 3.8-liter V6 is the most probable option under the hood of 2019 Genesis GV80.
This unit is capable of producing 311 HP and 293 pound-feet of torque. That is enough to power a bigger SUV and puts it in a solid performance.
If that is not enough, a next possibility is a 5.0-liter V8. The model G80 use the same engine. Thanks to a high-pressure direct injection, this engine burst 420 HP and 383 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are available with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive setup is optional.
2019 Genesis GV80 Price and Release Date
There is no point of guessing the price of an all-new 2019 Genesis GV80. However, as far as we know, Genesis will keep the pricing similar to its competitors. That means if Mercedes-Benz GLS starts at around $69,000, we can expect the price in the same range.
Whatsoever, a couple of premium features could make the forthcoming GV80 even pricier. First Genesis’ SUV will hit the dealerships in the first half of 2019.
