The newly 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is a first company’s all-electric subcompact SUV. Unveiled two months ago, Kona Electric is first of its kind on the European soil, and it should hit the U.S. markets next year. Just like any other EV or hybrid that is based on existing vehicle, Kona Electric is no different. It is basically the same version of gasoline Kona model.

As we already notice, the exterior of an all-new 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is almost the same as gasoline variant. The biggest but then again slight change is a front grille that features the same design but on EV model is closed. This comes as no surprise as this is a typical move for all-electric vehicles that don’t need an open grille for engine cooling.
The front fascia suffered a slight change also because of a charging socket, so this isn’t any sort of styling improvement. A silver trim runs below the headlights that are mounted on each side of the grille. The two-tone roof is also available with options like Chalk White, Dark Knight, and Phantom Black. Any of these packages come with mirror caps in the same colors.
There are a 21 paints combinations, and some new exterior colors are added such as Ceramic Blue, Galactic Grey, and Pulse Red.

Except for the new center console, the rest of the interior is the same as on gasoline model. The layout is completely the same, and four buttons for automatic transmission are replacing a traditional shifter.
The cup holders layout is changed and the steering wheel adds paddle shifts. Besides that, the rest of the cabin remains equipment also. A seven-inch cluster display comes in high-resolution and it is providing info like energy flow and battery charge level.
Standard upholstery is a combination of black color and cloth or leather materials. An all-leather layout is an option, just like three-tone blue and grey interior. The 2019 Kona comes with a wide range of high-tech features such as infotainment system with navigation and connectivity features. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging are also on the offer.

What makes the forthcoming 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric stand out in its lineup is a drivetrain. The regular models are offering four-cylinder gasoline engines, and now Kona obtained an electric engine. This combination of the lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor comes with two option. The base model is using a 39.2 kWh battery that can produce 132 HP and a range of 186 miles.
The second option is the more powerful 64 kWh battery that returns 201 HP and an estimated range is score an impressive 292 miles on a single charge. Both drivetrains are delivering 291 pound-feet of torque and the top speed is 104 mph. The 64 kWh option can reach 0 to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.

The upcoming 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric will cost around $29,000. Korean automaker also promised the U.S. model next to another eight crossovers by the end of 2019.
