The third-generation of A-Class is present for six years, and Mercedes-Benz is releasing a redesigned model for the upcoming year. German carmaker decided to replace every model after a six-year cycle, so this news aren’t that surprising after all. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class is actually the first to be part of this decision.
The new generation of A-class was spotted on the European roads one month before its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show. The way the new model looks, it looks more than promising. Besides the standard upgrades, the newest upgrade is that the sedan model will be featured.
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class is now Sportier than ever
After the spy shots leaked on the internet, the new-generation of this hatchback looked good. Moreover, new styling looks, even more, sportier than expected. The front fascia is based on latest CLS model and the headlamps look aggressive with some sharp edges. The front grille is also based on CLS and is wider toward the bottom. However, the diamond radiator layout will remain, just like silver horizontal bars.
The bumper is a new one and it features larger side intakes. Hood looks smaller and it sits lower. On top of that, it slopes toward the nose more than before. Those cues make new 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class the most aggressive hatchback so far. Hatchback’s profile is basically the same, only slightly longer wheelbase is changed, and thanks to larger wheel arches, A-class can now house 19-inches wheels.
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class Interior
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class sets some new standard for interior design and premium appeal. Just like Mercedes described new interior “avant-garde” we can make the same statement. When you take a looks inside this hatchback, everything becomes pretty clear. The dashboard and center stack are looking high-tech and turbine-look air vents add just boosting the interior a little bit more. The dash is separated into two 3D sections, where lower section is separated from the main part of the dash.
The A/C vents are much higher now and the main display is beside the digital instrument cluster. A 10-inch display is optional and ambient lighting looks gorgeous and unique with five times more colors than before. We must say it looks spectacular.
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class Engine Details and Options
The new generation usually means a new engine, and that is exactly what happened with 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class. The A-class will hit the European markets with two gasoline and one diesel unit, and the same should happen for U.S. dealerships. The base gasoline engine is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder that returns 163 HP. This drivetrain comes with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic.
The next unit is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 224 HP and 258 pound-feet of torque. Seven-speed dual-clutch is the only option available with this gasoline engine. Last option is a diesel drivetrain, 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit to be exact. This turbodiesel is rated at 116 HP and 192 pound-feet of torque and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is offered with this unit.
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class Price and Release Date
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class will hit the fourth-generation with the significantly premium improvements, but the price will remain much or less the same. The newest A-class will cost around $32,000.
The upcoming Mercedes’ model will probably hit the U.S. markets even though the demand for hatchbacks are low, especially in the premium segment.
