2019 VW Arteon is built on the popular MQB platform

The all-new 2019 VW Arteon makes its debut at the Chicago Auto Show as a replacement for VW CC. It offers generous interior space of a sedan but with the coupe-like design. In 2007 Volkswagen developed a large coupe with a sloped roof and name it Passat CC. In the company they dubbed it as a “sports sedan” but after 300,000 sales and not so great performance the CC model is dropped. Ten years later, the latest generation of CC comes back with a name VW Arteon.

This sedan now comes with the long wheelbase, large rear hatch, stretched roof and overall coupe-style design. The LED lighting system, 18-inch wheels and all-wheel drive setup are just some parts of an astonishing list of standard features.

2019 VW Arteon Looks Sporty and Attractive

The 2019 VW Arteon will sit on MQB platform and the overall exterior design looks sporty. The roofline incorporates a rear hatch. Both front and rear overhangs are short, just like the fenders. Arteon takes a wide and long stance, and dimensionally Arteon is wider and longer than the CC model. The wheelbase is five inches longer as well. The model will be available with few attractive colors Uruno Gray, Pure White, Atlantic Blue, Chilli Red, Manganese Gray, Pyrite Silver, Turmeric Yellow, Deep Black and Oryx White.

The front part features a large chrome grille with LED headlights that are standard. Arteon rides on 18-inch aluminum-alloys, while 19-inch wheels are optional. The rear also features LED lighting system on its taillights and two trapezoidal exhaust tips. Thanks to the 111.9-inch wheelbase this model looks more sporty and it length 191.4 inches.

The interior of the upcoming 2019 VW Arteon is refined and it feels premium with plenty of luxurious materials. Standard features like push-button start, keyless access and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system are all included. Ventilated front seats, Nappa leather seating, panoramic sunroof and VW Digital Cockpit are all optional. When it comes to safety, Arteon offers a forward collision warning, a rearview camera and autonomous emergency braking as standard.

The cargo room is rated at 19.9-cubic feet and it expands to 55-cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. These dimensions provide roomy cabin and a comfortable ride for all type of terrains.

On top of that, even blind spot monitoring and rear traffic alert are there. For the driver assistance, there is adaptive cruise control, lane and park assist and camera view. As we mentioned, the list of standard features on new Arteon is really long and premium.

The first trim SE will offer 3 zone climate control, heated seats with 12-way power front seats, keyless access system and auto dimming mirror. However, if one chooses the SEL trim, it will get the Panoramic roof, Memory driver seat and Leather seats. The SEL Premium trim will add an easy open trunk, heated steering wheel and rear seats, ventilated seats, massaging seats and Dynaudio system.

The newest flagship from the popular German carmaker will be also offered with R-Line design package. The new package will make this car sportier. The new 2019 VW Arteon R-Line model will get more attractive 20-inch alloy wheels painted in black, also there is sportier bumper with black and glossy-finished air intakes and a rear spoiler that is also gloss-black.

As for the interior, the changes are evident with this package. The R-Line logo can be seen on the newest Modular Infotainment Platform II and on seats that are more comfortable with leather. There is also a stitching on the steering wheel and shift knob.

2019 VW Arteon Engine and Gearbox Options

The 2019 VW Arteon has under the hood mighty 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged unit. This drivetrain can burst up to 268 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. This is a huge improvement than the CC’s four-cylinder engine that produced only 148 HP. This 2.0-liter engine comes with a start/stop system that boosts fuel economy furthermore and it comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The customers feedback about the transmission on Arteon’s predecessor was not that good. For that reason, Volkswagen decided to opt for the Aisin’s transmission and the results are expected to be more than good.

2019 VW Arteon Release Date and Cost

The price of the new 2019 VW Arteon is unknown. However, we expect that will price be around $35,000. SE, SEL and SEL Premium trim levels are available as well and new Arteon will hit the showrooms in the third quarter of 2018.
