It has been confirmed that the 2020 Audi R8 will be offered with V10 unit. It is great news as we are big fans of that massive naturally aspirated free-revving powerplant. We could previously hear the rumors about the removal of this engine from the lineup, but now, car’s project boss has been kind enough to dismiss all those speculations.
When we take a look at the engine lineup of the German carmaker, and many other companies in the industry, we can notice the trend of going for turbocharged powerplants. This is simply done because turbo units are far more efficient and in the case of R8 and similar supercars, it can offer spectacular performances. One of the last options without a turbocharger, the 5.2-liter V10 was believed to be soon cut from the offer, but things might go in other direction with 2020 Audi R8. It is also interesting to note that this marvelous engine can be found in Lamborghini Huracan.
2020 Audi R8 – More Aggressive Design
Both exterior and interior are expected to be changed for the new model, and the front segment will include larger and more prominent hexagonal grille. It will have the air intakes positioned on the edges of the bumper while the headlights have straight edges instead of a subtle curve. One of the new tech features for the 2020 Audi R8 will be the laser high-beam light that will be combined with a detection system for oncoming traffic and have the ability to adjust the light depending on the traffic. The back part now offers upgraded taillights and redesigned grille with new mesh inserts. The position of the rear diffuser is modified and now comes with trapezoidal tailpipes instead of the circular on the previous model.
While the exterior changes are not immediately noticeable in some cases, the story with the interior of 2020 Audi R8 is slightly bit different. The flat-bottom steering wheel comes with many controls on it, and the upgraded sport seats offer a higher level of lateral support. Audi’s virtual cockpit with its 12.3-inch display is there to present all the most important information to the driver, but there is also the second MMI screen located in the center of the dashboard. AC controls are now easier to reach while the air vents are reshaped, and on top of that, we need to add that manual transmission is no longer available.
