The all-new 2020 Ford Explorer will hit the roads once again, this time the famous crossover SUV will arrive with a complete redesign. The last heavy redesign happened seven years ago. Just like its predecessor, the 2020 Explorer will also come with the three rows of seating.
Explorer is one of the most popular models in its segment and the sale of this crossover SUV is increasing each and every year. If there is some part of the exterior you didn’t like, the 2020 model will deliver a complete design. The styling is modern and generally, this crossover will look better than ever. Furthermore, the interior now offers more upscale materials and more modern cabin overall. It is yet unknown if the 2020 model will mark the start of a new generation, however, a hybrid variant is almost certain.
2020 Ford Explorer sits on the new platform
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Explorer will ride on the same platform as the Lincoln Aviator. It is a new platform for the Explorer crossover and that means a rear-wheel-drive model is coming on the roads. According to leaked images, the exterior design looks much modern and aggressive.
Moreover, a hybrid model will arrive as well, and the hybrid variant will be used as a police interceptor in the U.S. The hood looks longer, there will be some dimensional changes for sure and the sloping roof looks brilliant.
2020 Ford Explorer interior updates
Dimensional changes and the all-new platform will not affect the cabin space. The upcoming 2020 Ford Explorer still has to offer ample interior space, which includes both headroom and legroom. This crossover will still offer seven seats across the three rows of seating. The layout of the seats is perfect and the technology inside the cabin is better than ever.
The latest infotainment system is on the cards, along with the phone connectivity systems, safety, and driver assistance aids. A Co-Pilot 360 safety suite is available for the additional money, so you can equip your Explorer with great safety systems and cameras.
2020 Ford Explorer engine and transmission
The 2020 Ford Explorer comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged drivetrain. This four-cylinder unit delivers 290 HP and 255 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, while some sources are claiming a new and optional 10-speed automatic gearbox. Hybrid models will get the combination of the V6 engine and a single electric motor.
Together, this output is producing 340 horses and 310 lb-ft of twists. Moreover, Explorer Hybrid will be used as a police interceptor in the U.S. and the rear-wheel-drive will be in the offer. The platform is new and most of the police vehicles are using this driving setup.
2020 Ford Explorer price and release date
The price of the 2020 Ford Explorer starts at $35,500. The price of the upper trims will cost significantly more. For an instance, Platinum models are priced at $52,000 and the famous ST version at $60,000.
We don’t know the price of the hybrid models, but we can expect the price slightly above $40,000. All of the prices are slightly higher, which is the only logical thing after the redesign. This crossover SUV will hit the markets at the start of 2020.
