It’s been a long time since the Korean carmaker was considered as a master for small and affordable cars. These days, Hyundai offers a fine amount of upscale mid-size vehicles as well. So, a natural move would be to enter the full-size segment. According to the latest reports, the company is testing an all-new, full-size SUV – 2020 Hyundai Palisade 8-Passenger SUV. Allegedly, the new Palisade SUV model is in a late stage of development and should come next year, most likely. At this point, we know it will be pretty large and that will probably feature seating capacity for up to 8 passengers.
New 2020 Hyundai Palisade 8-Passenger SUV Design
This 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a completely new SUV model. Though various reports have been speculation about the possible revival of the Veracruz nameplate, it won’t happen. According to a Hyundai official, the new model has got a brand-new name. It will be a new flagship crossover, slotted above the Santa Fe XL. Though the camouflage is covering the testing model completely, we can clearly see that something very boxy is hiding under the cover. We can presume that the new model will feature the brand’s newest design language, some expect a similar approach we’ve seen on the new 2020 Santa Fe, just in a bigger package. You can bet on new, super-narrow headlights and massive bumper, along with a large blacked grille.
New 2020 Hyundai Palisade Interior
Considering that the new SUV will be very large, we have no doubt it will come with three rows of seating already in base versions. It will feature seating capacity for 8 people and we hope that the third row will be spacious enough to accommodate adults as well. Of course, higher trims will probably come with second-row captain’s chairs, which would reduce capacity to 7 people. In terms of the cabin layout, expect a lot of similarities with the slightly smaller Santa Fe XL. This would include the same dashboard design. Of course, we count on the latest tech features to be available already in base models.
New 2020 Hyundai 8-Passenger SUV Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we expect to see at least two engines under the hood of the new SUV. Considering its size, base 2020 Hyundai Palisade models should come with a familiar 3.3-liter V6 with around 290 horsepower. We could easily see a new 2.0-liter inline-turbo in the offer as well. This unit delivers around 260 horses. For possible performance versions, we count on a turbocharged V6, which delivers around 365 horsepower. All models should come with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Hyundai Palisade Release Date
At this point, we know that the new 2020 Hyundai Palisade is in an advanced stage of development. The test mule has been on the road for some time, which indicates arrival in the next year. It seems too early for price predictions, though a rough estimation would go somewhere around 35.000 dollars for the base model.
